Junior Schools Netball Tournament.

Another outing for the Southill Netball Team to the Budmouth Junior Schools Netball Tournament this afternoon.  We have come so far as a team and I was blown away by the play today.  We dominated play and held possesion of the ball in most games, well done each and every one of you!

The afternoon started with a well matched game against St. Johns, ending in a 2-1 win to the opposition and a blinder of a goal from Lexi!  It was then great to meet our previous opponents Atlantic and win our match 1-0, yay!  Our next game was against Chickerell and we won 2-0 with amazing goals from Lola and Lucy.  Next up was Conifers which was a brilliant game, ending 3-1 to the opposition and a fantastic goal from Keegan.  Our final match was against Bincombe, drawing 1 all with a blinder of a goal from Beau, shot from the edge of the ‘D’ straight in the net!  It was especially good to know we drew with Bincombe, who won the overall competition!

Our passing was spot on, our space finding was brilliant and as the afternoon progressed, our confidence really grew.  Playing a game in training and even playing a match against another school is very different to playing in a tournament with 10 other schools, 4 other matches playing at the same time, a lot of to-ing and fro-ing between courts and not much rest in between!  Well done to our Team for their amazing resilience and reciprocity, competing in an event which we haven’t particpated in for over 2 years.

As an extra bonus and proud moment for the Team representing the school, a Southill player earnt the Player of the Match in EVERY GAME WE PLAYED! Well done to Keegan, Lucy and Lola.  A special mention to Beau who earnt Player of 2 of our matches and was chosen as an overall Player of the Tournament!  A truly awesome honour and representation of our school and our values.

Well done Southill Netball Team and keep your eyes peeled for more match news coming this way very soon!

I was very impressed with the games I came to watch. The team represented Southill impeccably and clearly demonstrated hard they’ve been working in netball club. Well done netballers and thank you Mrs. Hill for giving the team this fantastic opportunity!
