Billy the Brave Knight and Brilliant Maths!

We have had another great week in Year 2!

On Monday, we were introduced to our new story ‘Billy the Brave Knight’ through several intriguing clues: a sword and shield, a princess, a tower and a horse…

After spending some time speculating, we heard the story for the first time and used our text map to help us to retell it. Each of our lessons this week have started with retelling the story (including actions) and we have been very impressed by your effort and enthusiasm! A copy of our text map was sent home on Tuesday so that you can continue to practise this story at home.

We have also focused on learning key vocabulary from our text. During our first lesson, we played a game that involved moving around the playground to stand next to the word that matched a given description.

In Maths, we have spent more time familiarising ourselves with a variety of physical resources. Earlier in the week, we used these to represent the number 13 in as many ways as we could think of.

Well done for all of your hard work this week Year 2! Have a lovely weekend everybody.
