Successful Parent Forum

I’m pleased to share the outcomes of our recent Parent Forum held on Tuesday evening here at Southill Primary.  It was a successful meeting where everyone agreed that the discussions were positive and helpful.

Uniform Policy
Our uniform policy was one of the topics up for discussion. I am pleased to report that everyone is satisfied with the current policy. Parents expressed their contentment with the value and inclusivity of our uniform choices, which aligns well with the guidelines on school uniform policies.

Wraparound Care
Another important topic was our wraparound care. We are delighted that the consensus was unanimously positive, with parents feeling that our current provision is more than adequate. It’s wonderful to hear such feedback, as it’s vital that our pupils are well-cared-for beyond school hours.

Spelling Tests
A question was raised about why we have decided to stop the Friday spelling tests. The decision at the beginning of the year was based on evidence showing that they offer no significant educational benefit and can cause unnecessary anxiety for children while increasing the workload for our staff. Instead, we have implemented a more robust system of assessment for spellings and all subjects across the curriculum, which is already showing promising results.

Music Studio Project
Lastly, the progress of our music studio project was discussed. While this project has currently come to a bit of a standstill, we are committed to moving it forward. At our next Full Governing Body (FGB) meeting, we will raise this issue and appoint a project manager to breathe new life into this exciting venture. Your support and patience are appreciated as we work to provide outstanding facilities for our students.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Forum and contributed to such a fruitful discussion. Your feedback is invaluable, and we are committed to continuing to work together to make Southill Primary a nurturing and thriving environment for our children.

The next forum will be in the Autumn term and of course I’ll send out details nearer the time.
