Roll up, Roll up…Read All About It!
This half term, we have been reading Kaspar, Prince of Cats by Michael Morpurgo. We’ve followed the journey of Johnny Trot, Kaspar the cat, and Lizziebeth as they boarded the infamous Titanic. As we all know, the Titanic never reached its destination in New York City, and the story took a dramatic turn.
Today, the children completed their final piece of writing inspired by the novel. They stepped into the shoes of journalists and wrote newspaper reports describing the tragic events that unfolded after the sinking of the ship. I must say, their depth of knowledge on the topic and the quality of their writing have been truly outstanding!
Catchy headlines, a mix of direct and reported speech, and rich, impressive vocabulary were in abundance. Their reports are a testament to how much they’ve learned and how far they’ve come as writers.
Our next step? Finding the perfect place to proudly display these incredible pieces of work!
