We have had an amazing day today with a very special visitor! Samuel Pepys came in to share his knowledge of The Great Fire of London with us. We listened carefully to what he had to say, learning many new things about the fire, it’s causes and the aftermath.
We looked at lots of artefacts from the 1600’s and thought about what they were and what they might have been used for. Samuel shared with us his experience of the Great Fire and really bought it to life, prompting many thoughtful questions. We all learnt so much from him!
After break, we leant a little about the plague which had gripped London the year before the fire. The children all made their own pomanders using a variety of herbs and dried petals. Some of the children even got to dress up as a plague doctor!
The afternoon was spent making our own fire marks using clay and designing how we would have rebuilt London.
A brilliant day all round!
Orla had a fantastic day, she really enjoyed it, especially making the romance. Thank you
