WATER PONG!

WATER PONG!

This afternoon, in honour of our very last PE lesson together (cue the tiny violins), we decided to go out with a splash — quite literally! The children burst outside to find tables set up, a scoreboard ready, and the stage set for the Ultimate Water Pong Contest.

Teams were formed at random, and the goal was simple: sink your ping pong balls into the opposition’s cups and eliminate them — all for the ultimate prize… the opportunity to soak everyone else! Each victorious team earned 3 points and, more importantly, bragging rights.

The competition was fierce, the throws were wild (some not even close), and after many tense and thrilling matches, our semi-finalists emerged:

  1. Emily & Flossie
  2. Eli & Oscar
  3. Logan & Harley
  4. Poppy & Olivia

From four strong duos, only two could reach the final. And so it was… Eli & Oscar vs Emily & Flossie in a nail-biting showdown. The match went right down to the wire — balls bouncing, cups teetering — until Eli and Oscar kept their cool, nailed the last cup, and were crowned Water Pong Champions 2025!

Then came their well-earned reward… The rest of the class lined up against the wall (some with heroic bravery, others with quiet dread), as Eli and Oscar, armed with hosepipes and cups of icy water, unleashed a tidal wave of soaking. The playground rang with shrieks, laughter, and the occasional cry of “Not down my back!”

It was a glorious, chaotic, and joyfully soggy way to end not just a PE lesson, but an unforgettable chapter of our time together.

Well done, Year 6 — you’ve been brilliant. It’s been an absolute pleasure.
