10th June

Wonderful Wednesday

Good morning and welcome to another fun day of learning!

Phonics: Lesson 32 our second session looking at adjacent consonants (letter blends in words).

Picture of the day: Another great picture to talk about, still thinking about looking up at the clouds.

What are the people doing?          Where did the ladders come from?       Why do they climb the ladders?
Why is the man holding onto the cloud?            Where do they go when they get onto the clouds?
Can anyone ride on the clouds? Can people ‘catch’ a cloud any time?
I wonder what it would be like on a cloud – what would it feel like? What would you be able to see?

Write about this picture using these sentence starter ideas: They are……….   I can see……..  Look at………

Maths: Watch this episode of Numberblocks and use the guide (shared on Monday) to help you talk about it.

Home challenge: Can you make collections of objects to match to numbers up to 10, then sort them into odd and even numbers?

Other Activities

Exploring paint: Try one of these fun activities.

Finger painting – provide blue paper and white paint. Explore making cloud pictures using your fingers dipped in white paint. You could make some grey paint by mixing some black and white paint. Dab individual fingers gently on to the paper to paint.

Symmetrical cloud prints – Again, on blue paper, paint a white cloud shape on one side of the paper. Then fold the paper closed and rub gently. Open the paper to reveal a different cloud shape.

Getting Outside: Look at the clouds today – do they look different as the weather is changing?

Go on a walk to hunt for the colour ‘white’ when you are out and about. Talk about what you can see in a sentences and describe the white things you find. Look, I can see a fluffy, white dandelion.
