Animal Adventures – part 2

Picture of the day – writing challenge: Here is your first writing challenge this week. Have a look at the picture and talk about what you can see and what you think might be happening in the picture. When you have talked about the picture, decide what you would like to write about. Some sentence starters could be: The boat……    I can see…    I like…….   They…. Use your sound board to help when sounding out or to use tricky words.

Phonics: Here is a link to some video clips on Espresso. They are useful for supporting our learning with a focus on Letter Teams at the end of words. Unfortunately, Espresso, have muddled up the labels for each video, so I will point you in the right direction! Watch the video clip and talk about the words together, then have a go at writing some of them in a phoneme frame, just like last week. If you want to, you could draw pictures to match some of them. (login details from Friday last week)

This first video is actually called Good as Gold and you will come across words such as desk and vest.

Reading: Try one of these fun reading challenges at home.

Read a book in bed/in your pyjamas.    Read near some flowers or on some grass.

Share your favourite story book with another person – or read to one of your toys!

Read a book when you are wearing a hat.    Read a book in a den.

Remember, you can email Mrs Wood about changing books – check your email for further information.

Maths: A new weekly theme from White Rose Maths starts today. Follow the link below and start Day 1. It looks great –  a Pirate adventure.

Fact Finding: BBC Bitesize have got some great video clips to help us find out about the ocean habitat and also about fish. Have a look and see what you can find out. Maybe you could create a fishy picture/collage after you have watched these?

Science Experiments for Preschoolers

Finally: Here is an idea for your outdoor learning. See if you can spot some different types of bees – either in your garden or when you go out for a walk.

There is more information about bees here, if you would like to find out more.
