Tasks for Tuesday

I hope you are enjoying the start of our ocean-themed week and tried out some of the tasks yesterday.

Picture of the day: Wow! What an interesting picture. Lots to think and talk about before you start writing. Have a think about these questions.

  • Who is the girl?
  • Why is she riding on the fish?
  • How did she get there?
  • Can she breathe underwater?
  • Where are they going?

You could start your sentence with The fish……. or The girl (remember, when sounding out the word girl the children might use er as this is the sound they know). You could start with I like…… or you could start with They are….. Remember to use your sound board, especially if you need any tricky words.

Extra Challenge: Maybe you could draw what is happening in the rest of the picture – what do you think you would see?

Phonics: Focus on letter teams at the end of words, watch this video, then choose some of the CVCC words to write into your phoneme frame. Sound them out together as you write them.

Choose Messy Loft, which is actually Blend Camp and you will come across words such as pink, lunch and tent.

Challenge: Maybe you could create a pink picture or you could create your own tent, then eat lunch in your tent!

Reading: You could try another reading challenge from yesterday. You could also read this story together – it is a video link to a story on Espresso called What’s up. We used to watch it at school and it is great to join in with – some of the words appear on the screen.

Maths: White Rose Maths – Night Pirates Day 2. It looks like you might be walking the plank today!

Other Activities

Keeping Fit: We love the Sticky Kids at school so why not try out this workout session of fun songs?

Crafty Fish: If you fancy a craft activity today, have a go at making these foil fish. Draw and cut out a cardboard fish (you could use any card from cereal boxes). Then wrap the fish in foil and decorate. You could decorate with paint, stickers, glue and art materials or try permanent marker pens. The children painted on foil during the winter so might remember!

National Marine Aquarium: Watch this relaxing video from the aquarium- it is beautiful.

More activities tomorrow – fact finding, craft and another ocean-themed picture of the day.
