Home Learning

29th April

Wonderful Wednesday!

Picture of the day: Have a look at the picture together and talk about what you think is happening.

  • Which sea creatures can you see in this picture?    How many can you name?
  • Which is your favourite?   Why?
  • Where is this?

Write a sentence to answer one of the questions. You could start with I like the……..  or maybe I can see a ……. You could challenge yourself with a different starter, such as I think….

As always, remember finger spaces, use your sound board to sound out each word and look at the tricky words too.

Phonics: Look at the phonics information from the email I sent out yesterday – if you would like to start watching the Letters and Sounds daily lessons, here is the link.

If you would like a challenge, continue with my daily Phase 4 tasks. Watch another of these video clips to help with learning about letter teams at the end of words. Choose a few of the words you see to write in phoneme frames and sound out together. It’s all about hearing the sounds. I always say, stretch the word out to hear all of the sounds.

Choose The Giant Vest which is actually My Messy Loft. You will come across words such as loft, next and lift.

Reading: How are you getting on with the reading challenges from Monday? I hope you enjoyed the story yesterday as well. If you have managed to change your reading books at school, enjoy reading one of them. If not, try out one of the reading challenges with a book you already have at home.

Extra reading: If you would like to try something different, have a look at this activity from Phonics Play. Click on Phase 4 – week 2 – CVCC and choose any from Monday to Friday. It gives you sentences to sound out and read – you will see lots of words with letter teams at the end. (Login details march20   home)

Other Activities

Fact Finding: Have a look at this unit of resources – Under the sea – from espresso (same password as before).

Lots to keep you busy here – videos, songs, photos, maths activities, books and music. You don’t have to look at everything on here, just choose a few bits to explore. Maybe you could make your own poster, picture or mini book about what you find out.

Finally: If you have any spare time after exploring Under the sea why not try one of these craft activities? You could create an ocean in an egg box or, if you are feeling brave enough, footprint sharks! If you don’t have paint, you could draw round your feet!

Have fun today. Tomorrow, look out for another picture of the day, music, drawing and a visit to see Andy!
