Weekly spellings and times tables

Weekly spellings and times tables

Reading – Please encourage your child to read over the weekend. It’s also great for children to have the opportunity to read with an adult. Please write in their Reading Record Books and ensure these come back on Monday. If children need to complete a book quiz at home, then simply follow the link- Renaissance – Log In (renaissance-go.com).

TT Rockstars – We really want the children to develop their times tables this academic year. We have set up an account on TT Rockstars for the children and their username is stuck in the back of their Reading Records. To access the website, follow this link – Times Tables Rock Stars: Play (ttrockstars.com).

Lexia- For those of you that also have Lexia accounts, why not login at home? Who knows, maybe you’ll make it onto our leaderboard in the 2%er assembly on Thursdays! – Lexia Core5 Reading – Login and Student Program

Romeo and Juliet- At the end of this half term, Year 4 will be performing William Shakespeare’s infamous play ‘Romeo and Juliet’. We have been learning and practising the story in class. It would really help if your child used the text map below to continue practising at home. Some children have also brought home some lines for them to learn and we will soon be sending home some song lyrics. If you are able to support them in learning their lines/the story/the songs in any way then we would really appreciate it!

Spellings

The spellings for this week are:

possession

possible

potatoes

pressure

probably

Spellings will be tested on Friday 26th January 2024

Parents: all words are selected from the age-appropriate National Curriculum list of statutory words. These are words your child has to know by the end of Year 4. Please encourage your child to practice at home and carry out an occasional test to prepare them for Friday morning.

Times Tables

We would like the children to have a go at learning the…

9x and 12x tables

The children will have random questions all linked to these times tables. Please encourage your children to practice as much as possible in order to prepare them for the test next Friday. By the end of the year, children need to be able to answer all times table problems up to 12 x 12 in under 6 seconds!

On Friday after school, please ask your child to see their scores. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
