Good Morning – Monday Tasks!

Phonics: Letters and Sounds lesson 50. Another review lesson today. Keep up the good work.

This week we are out and about in space! I have chosen another great story this week – Star in the Jar by Sam Hay.

Enjoy watching and listening to this story.

Picture of the Day: A beautiful starry picture for you today. I hope you enjoy talking about this.

Who is this?
What is she doing?
Why is she catching stars? Is this the first time she’s done it?
Why are there so many stars close to her?
What is she doing with them when she’s caught them? Why? What will happen to the stars now?
Is this the best way to catch stars?

Choose one of these sentence starters today:

I think……..        I can see…….

Be careful sounding out each word and try to use some interesting words to describe the picture.

Maths: Fitting in with our space theme, our maths this week is based around a funny book about a dinosaur that pooped a planet! Watch the video and try out one or more of the activities.

Today you can make junk rocket models (or draw if you don’t have the resources) and talk about healthy lunches.

Other Activities

Try out this ‘How to Draw’ session with Rob Biddulph.

Dinosaur Play: Why not get out some toy dinosaurs and add loose parts to create a planet for them? Shiny objects, gems, pebbles, sticks, counters… use your imagination. You could add in some aliens too for a fun adventure.

Getting Outside: Using balls.

Find a selection of balls of different shapes and sizes to play with outside. Maybe they could be planets!

Explore actions such as: rolling, kicking, bouncing, throwing and catching, pass a ball round your body.

Sing along with this song about stars!
