Home Learning

9th October 2020

First, an apology. This week’s spelling and times table test scores didn’t get sent home today as our internet was playing up which led to some difficulties. We’ll send them on Monday. Sorry.

Spellings

This week’s words to learn are:

experience

experiment

woman

women

difficult

They will be tested on Friday 16th October in school.

Parents: all words are selected from the age-appropriate National Curriculum list of statutory words. These are words your child has to know by the end of Year 4. Children are being taught strategies for learning spellings as part of their work at school. ASK YOUR CHILD ABOUT THE PYRAMID AND THE WORD SHAPE STRATEGIES. They’re a fun way to help learn spellings. Please encourage them to practice at home during the week, and carry out an occasional test to prepare them for Friday morning.

On Friday after school, please ask your child their score. We’ll talk to you about them during our next Parents’ Evening appointments.

This week’s math’s home learning is to become fluent in the second 6 multiples of 4

eg    7 x 4 = 28      8 x 4 = 32      9 x 4 = 36      10 x 4 = 40      11 x 4 = 44        12 x 4 = 48

Don’t forget that there are lots of different ways to ask times tables questions eg What are seven 4s ? What is 7 times 4 ? What are 7 lots of 4 ? What is 7 x 4.

Hopefully  counting in fours will help with this.

If you want to challenge yourself see if you can spot any patterns in this counting in 4’s sequence

On Friday after school, please ask your child their score.
