Daily Tasks – Friday 27th March

This is the last post of the week and I’d love to receive any examples of home learning that you’d like to share. Don’t be shy!

Writing

There are many exceptions to the ‘i before e’ spelling rule.

Make a list of at least ten words in which i comes before e. Now create another list of ten words in which the e comes before the i. Do any of the words in your second list have something in common? Can you make up a new rule to explain why in some words the e comes before the i? Finally, write a paragraph that includes as many of the words from the two lists you created as possible.

e.g. Queen Elizabeth’s reign was at its height when her obedient friend received news she found difficult to believe

Give yourself one point for each word you use. Four points if you use two ie/ei words in a row and six points if you can use three ie/ei words in a row (such as obedient friend received).  I scored nine points in the sentence above but you should score much more than that because you will write a whole paragraph!

Arithmetic

Complete arithmetic quiz 6:2. Answers in Monday’s blog. Will your score be higher than for quiz 6:1?!

Maths No problem

Answers to yesterday’s workbook pages 113/114;

1(a) 57  1(b) 58  1(c) 45     2.  e=108   f=144   3. OLK=53   4. p=280,  q=80   r=50.

Chapter 12 Lesson 8 – Read the In Focus task on page 142 of the textbook.  What do you think the arrows on the lines represent? Draw the quadrilaterals then read through the Let’s Learn section on pages 143 & 144.

Finally, complete the Guided Practice section on page 145. Using the protractors you took home, draw and measure the triangle and the quadrilateral. What should the angles in your shapes add up to?
