Spellings

This weeks spellings will help us with our instruction writing. Please support your child at home to learn the spellings of…

first          next          after  that         finally

These words are available on our working wall for children to use, however, if they are confident spellings them that will be a huge help when it comes to their writing.

Maths

This week we have continued to look at 2 digit numbers, breaking them down into tens and ones.

Your child has come home with a ‘tens and ones’ sheet to complete. Please support at home by counting the groups of ten and then the ones, for example 10,20,21,22,23,24.

This directly matches the work we have been learning in class so it should be familiar to your child.

I have completed the first few for you so that you can see how we would talk it through at school.

Recognising that 2 digit numbers are broken down into tens and ones is a really important skill. We will be building upon this next week when we look further into comparing 2 digit numbers. Next week we will be comparing how many tens and many ones each number has and thinking about how we can use this information to compare the numbers.
