In Maths we are learning how to journal, this is when we try to show our thinking using pictures and diagrams.

For example when looking at the question..

Miss Curtis had 10 sweets. She eats 4. How many are left.

We know that the number sentence will be 10-4=6 and can write this down.

We could also show it by drawing 10 sweets and crossing out the 4 that are eaten or draw our own number line starting on 10 and counting 4 jumps backward. We ave been using these techniques this week and are beginning to become more confident with them.

Can you make up some number sentences at home to represent using the same techniques? Perhaps you could show it using a number bond diagram or a tens frame that you have drawn. Are there any other ways that you can think of?
