All home learning will be set here every Friday and will be tested the following Friday.

Harvest Assembly

Please learn your lines which have been sent home this week ready for our Harvest Festival next Thursday, 13th October at Emmanuel Church, Southill, 2pm.

Reading

Reading underpins all of our learning and development and is great for our imagination! Please read your book daily and to an adult at home regularly, recording all reading in your reading record.

If you have finished your reading book and need to complete the quiz for it, please access your Accelerated Reader account here: ARP access

If you have a Lexia account, please access it here to complete at home: Lexia access

Spellings

This week’s words to learn are:

curiosity

develop

nuisance

persuade

appreciate

Parents: all words are selected from the age-appropriate National Curriculum lists, these are words your child has to know by the end of Year 5.   Please encourage them to practice at home during the week, and carry out an occasional test to prepare them for Friday morning.  The tests are linked to spelling objectives and learning during the week.

Mental Maths

This week the children will be tested on:

Using and applying number bonds to 10

The children will be tested on these 10 sums in a random order:

64 + 36 = 100

640 + 360 = 1,000

6,400 + 3,600 = 10,000

64,000 + 36,000 = 100,000

640,000 + 360,000 = 1,000,000

100 – 21 = 79

1,000 – 210 = 790

10,000 – 2,100 = 7,900

100,000 – 21,000 = 79,000

1,000,000 – 210,000 = 790,000

Please also remember to complete 20 minutes of sessions in Garage on TT Rockstars.  You can access the website here: TT Rockstars

On Friday after school please ask your child their scores, we’ll send them home on a slip of paper.

Art

This week we have had great fun in our Art project learning about Taotie Motifs and designing and casting some of our own! Have a look at this week’s blog posts for more information!

Why don’t you have a go at drawing one of your own Taotie masks using some of the skills, patterns and techniques we have looked at this week. Bring in your designs, we would love to see them!
