Phonics

Today we are going to watch the online Phonics again.

I would recommend watching the ‘Year 1’ session at 10.30. It has a recap of phase 3 sounds at the beginning before moving onto teaching the phase 5 sounds, so there is no need to watch The Receptions video as well unless you would like to. All of these sounds your child has been taught already at school so they should be familiar. We would be recapping all sounds during the summer term and would continue looking at ‘tricky words’ which are also covered in these videos which is great!

The link is below again ….   if you are not able to watch the video at 10.30 you can watch it at another time. After it has been ‘live’ it is then on the ‘Letters and sounds’ youtube channel which can be accessed at any time of the day – Yay!

English – Sidney Spider

Follow the same structure that we have been using …

Start off retelling the story -You will probably notice that your child is becoming really familiar and confident now.

On your story maps – change the character. Think about ‘Sidney Spider’ they both start with the same letter. Can you follow the same pattern, for example Freddie Frog. At school we would usually add sticky notes over the top, try this at home. Remember, you are changing the main character who is an animal. If your new character is a Frog, will he be able to spin golden webs?

Y1-Unit Talk For Writing

You will notice I have missed out some sections – next week we are going to be looking at classifications of animals which would otherwise be a little repetitive. If you would like to complete the other activities you can.

Maths

Today we are going to try something new for a bit of a change. Visit the page below, it is an online quiz.. This one is about division which we have been focusing on.
