English task

Today, we would like you to look at and understand the meaning of the words from the story we looked at yesterday.

In the link below (Day 7), the words are listed along with a meaning for each. We would like you to match the word to its meaning, copying out each meaning next to each word in your writing book.

You could use the alphabetically ordered list you created yesterday if you have room next to each word.

Day 7

Arithmetic task

Today, we would like you to write out the 5 times table in order on a piece of paper and then write the related division number sentence for each one next to it. Space out your number sentences because we will be cutting them out and using them tomorrow so keep them somewhere safe!

e.g.

1 x 5 = 5           5  ÷ 5 = 1

2 x 5 = 10         10 ÷ 5 = 2

3 x 5 = 15         15 ÷ 5 = 3

Maths task

Here are the answers to yesterday’s worksheet pages.

Today we would like you to have a go at Lesson 4, on page 23, which is again all about counting money but today is about being able to count money using a combination of notes and coins as well as using the symbols for pounds (£) and pence (p).

Start by covering the ‘Let’s Learn’ part of the page and have a go at the ‘In Focus’ question. Once you think you’ve found a solution and explained it to someone at home, uncover the ‘Let’s Learn’ and compare it to your solution.

You do not need to complete the ‘Activity Time’ on page 24.

Next, have a go at the ‘Guided Practice’ activity on page 25.

Finally, complete worksheet pages 25 and 26 in your Workbook.

Topic Task – Minibeasts – Survival

First, watch this clip all about minibeasts.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z6882hv/articles/z9fkwmn

Then, we would like you to think about some of the minibeasts you have found and to see if you can explain to someone at home what you think they need to survive.

We would like you to choose one minibeast and make a poster all about it, drawing a picture and writing facts under the following headings:

What do I eat and drink?

How do I breathe?

What do I live in or under?

How do I protect myself?

Use the information sheet here or other books you have to find information.

Minibeast Facts

You could also use Espresso (see link below – discovery education), typing the name of your minibeast into the search bar, to find more information.
