Phonics

Today’s sound to recap is /aw/. This is a digraph which means two letters working together to make one sound. The A and the W making the /or/ sound is usually seen at the end of words, for example ‘saw’.
Visit phonics play https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk you will find the game ‘Picnic on Pluto’ in the ‘free phonics play’ section. Click on ‘Phase 5’ which is down the side of the screen on a pink tab and then scroll down to the game ‘Picnic on Pluto’ you then need to select ‘Phase 5’ again and it will ask you to choose your sound. Today choose ‘aw’. We have played this at school so the children will be familiar with it.
Next Segment and write these words together….  paw   saw    jaw   law   claw   straw

Finally write a silly sentence using these words. For example… The saw and the paw had a drink with a straw.

Thank you to everyone who sent pictures of their story maps yesterday – they looked great. If you didn’t finish, don’t panic. Lots of you have still got some left to map which is no problem. Today carry on mapping the rest of the story. For those who have already mapped it out. Use today to rehearse it – keep practising! We will practise every day before a short activity, the same as we do in school. Can you add some actions and perform it to your grown up, or maybe your brother or sister?

Make sure you recap from the beginning each time as the main purpose of this activity is to help you become familiar with the text and learn it off by heart. The link is below if you need it…

Maths

I have had lots of positive feedback about the White Rose maths you have been trying out the week. It has been lovely to see lots of pictures from people working through the questions using objects at home.

Today have a go at the activity below. Copy and paste the link into your search bar. The activity focuses on ‘making equal groups- sharing’.

Again you can print these sheets off and work through the questions if you would like to, but it is not essential. Also you may need some objects which can be used to support the questions
