2-Square Tournament

After weeks of gaining sponsors, children from Years 4-6 participated in an afternoon of the popular playground game…2-square. The children who demonstrated our Building Learning Powers would then be entered into the quarter-finals at the end of the afternoon in an attempt to progress all the way to the final and take home the trophy.

It was an incredible afternoon. The music was blaring from the DJ Express in an attempt to motivate the children as they competed against one another all afternoon. It was fantastic seeing children play against: their friends, people in different year groups and the teachers!

After 1 hour and 45 minutes of solid ‘2-squaring’, we then progressed into the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals. The children chosen for this played with real passion and vigor. We then crowned our winner and announced to the children how much they had raised for the school. The final figure I hear you ask…

£1,300.16

We never anticipated such a huge sum of money and it really shows how supportive the Southill community are. It’s been a magical afternoon and surpassed all of our expectations. A huge thank you to all the children who have been gaining sponsorships and to anybody who has donated money to support the event.

I would also like to say a huge thank you to the Year 5 Bronze Ambassadors who came up with the idea, helped to put it all together and ensured everything ran smoothly this afternoon. They will decide in the next few weeks on how we should spend the money to further improve sport at Southill.
