Beach Huts Part One

Today we made a great start designing and building our beach huts. We needed all our learning powers but especially resilience to persevere with our frames as it was really tricky to make them but we felt really successful and proud of ourselves when we succeeded. We also showed great reciprocity as we worked so well together to support each other with the building and saying positive things to encourage each other. We used a lot of maths skills in our build today. We needed to measure our pieces of wood, making sure we had equal lengths, then we used a junior hacksaw to cut the wood. To make our corners strong we learnt how to reinforce them with triangles. Now our frames are complete we can look forward to adding walls and a roof after half term.

Wow! What a super DT project incorporating lots of different skills and learning powers. George says “it was hard at first but I didn’t give up and it felt great once I’d made my frame.”
