Welcome to my weekly blog – an update on all the wonderful things going on here at Southill Primary.
On Tuesday, we kicked off the week with our exciting Maths Day. A huge well done to everyone who joined in the dressing-up fun—there were some incredibly creative costumes on display! Thank you to Tom for organising such a fantastic event. The children thoroughly enjoyed engaging in maths-themed activities throughout the day.
Today, we held our VE celebration day, and it’s been truly wonderful! The children took part in a range of activities, including:
- Traditional games
- A street party lunch
- Creating their own bunting with a peace pledge
We were especially impressed by the beautiful ideas the children came up with for their peace promises. We encourage you to ask your child about their peace pledge and the activities they enjoyed today.
Thank you to everyone who helped make these events a success, and to our staff team for their hard work and creativity.
Looking ahead to next week:
Next week is a significant one for our school!
Year 6 SATs Week
Our Year 6 pupils have been working incredibly hard and now it’s their time to shine. We’re so proud of the effort, determination, and resilience they have shown throughout their SATs preparation. We know they will do their very best and we’ll be right here, cheering them on every step of the way!
Mental Health Awareness Week
It’s also Mental Health Awareness Week. To mark this, every afternoon all our children will take some time to ‘Pause for Mental Health’. Each day will include a variety of mindful activities and moments, all designed to support and promote positive mental wellbeing across the school.
We’re especially excited to welcome Darryl from Stormbreak on Thursday afternoon. Darryl will be visiting each class to run engaging Stormbreak sessions, helping our pupils to develop healthy coping skills and emotional resilience in a fun and supportive way.
Let’s make next week a celebration of both achievement and wellbeing for everyone at Southill!.
Wishing you all a restful weekend.
