Extra! Extra! Read All About It!

After learning about Howard Carter’s famous discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb, Year 4 stepped into the shoes of real-life journalists! They planned and wrote their own newspaper articles, reporting on the amazing moment the tomb was opened. Their articles were packed with creativity (like football on page 8!), historical facts and beautiful handwriting. Year 4 have really proved themselves to be brilliant historians and budding journalists!

Year 4 have also been imaging themselves as Ancient Egyptians, but not any old Ancient Egyptians… only Tutankhamun himself! Using the pyramid hierarchy, the children discussed in groups what they would want to take into the afterlife and ranked them from most important to least. They chose all sorts, from treasures to companions, and then used cause and effect conjunctions to justify why. Well done!
