Funny Faces and Fabulous Features

This week we have been learning about portraits in art.

We started the lesson looking at different types of portrait – we noticed that people, in particular their head and shoulders, are the subject of the art. However, this does not always have to be a drawing or a painting. We learnt about different mediums, how some artists are famous painters, some are famous photographers and some artists use computers to create their art work.

After lots of discussion and comparison, we took a good look at ourselves!!

We chose two of the portraits that we had talked about earlier, and started to look at our own features. Trying to draw them in the same style as the artists. One was a line drawing, this was completed without taking our pens off of the page! And the other was a pencil drawing, looking at line, tone and shade.

We have had great fun with our art this week and are really looking forward to more silly face art work next week!

Enjoy our gallery of artwork below…
