Handball Heroes

Handball Heroes

This half term, we have been learning about (and playing) the game of handball. It is a fast-paced, competitive game and over the past few weeks, the children have been developing their:

-hand-eye coordination

-spatial awareness

-tactics

-attacking and defending

After learning all of the rules and playing in a few friendly matches, the children participated in a handball tournament this afternoon. The children competed in their house teams in order to determine who would become the handball champions in Year 4.

I must say, the games were very competitive! After all the scores were counted and verified, it was revealed that the two teams who had won the most points over the course of the afternoon were Dragon and Griffin. They then qualified for the final.

Griffin took an early lead, scoring four quick goals in a row. A few minutes later, Dragon managed to score three goals in quick succession! In the final few moments of the match however, Griffin managed to kill the game off with two last minute goals. This meant that the winning team were…GRIFFIN!

A huge well done to all of the children who took part; I hope they have enjoyed it.
