Mental Health Awareness Week

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week. In school, we have been discussing what mental health means and how we can look after ourselves. The children are brilliant at coming up with ways to deal with tricky emotions and shared strategies that they use at home. It was lovely to hear them empathising with each other and recognising that everyone has big emotions at times and that’s OK.

We have had a visit from Darryl at Stormbreak who visited our class and did a Stormbreak called Self-care Safari.

We have also been carrying out some ‘random acts of kindness’. The children delivered some cakes to a member of staff of their choice with a little anonymous note. The grown ups were so pleased, which in turn, made the children feel good too.

Tomorrow we will make some posters to put up in the local area with our ideas and strategies for good mental health.
