Money, Money, Money…

Money, Money, Money…

During our ‘Maths – No Problem!’ lessons, we’ve been exploring pounds and pence over the last few days and, I must say, we have some money experts blossoming in Year 3…

We’ve been learning efficient strategies in order to count money quickly, such as:

-Grouping money into pounds and pence

-Counting on from the largest amount

-Using column addition (making sure those pesky decimal points line up)

-Number bonds to 100 as there are 100 pennies in a pound!

Over the next few days, the children will learn strategies and methods involving subtracting money. We will then be answering real-life money problems which could be very important as the children get older and wiser. No more wasting pocket money…
