Although the children were only back for three days this week, it has been crammed full of excitement , wonder and learning.  The children were able to handle and discuss some old coins including, shillings, sixpences and very old and very large pennies, some of which dated back to the 1800’s! The coins are linked to the theme of treasure and exploration through our new book for writing; The Thames and Tide Club by Katya Balen.  There were so many questions and lots of discussion which was wonderful to be part of.  The children looked at a variety of shells too and watched a video about mudlarks exploring the banks of the muddy Thames and what treasures they sometimes find.
