Pixies … Information Text Map

This week we started  a looking at an information text about the mythical creatures – ‘Pixies’.

We have already identified some key words that a writer uses in information texts. These are generalisers (eg most, many, a few, a handful of, the majority of etc), adverbs to engage the reader (eg interestingly, surprisingly, intriguingly etc) and words to signal extra information (additionally, furthermore, also, in addition, moreover etc).

We have also reminded ourselves of how an information report is organised – title, sub-headings, an introduction to hook the reader in and some kind of ending to wrap the text up.

Below is the text map and a file of the text.

Remember, the more you know the text, the more likely it is that you will be able to include all the great writer’s tools into your own information text.
