Samba!

Samba!

Today, we learnt all about Samba! We began by learning where Samba music originated from and found Brazil on the world map. We then started learning about some of the percussion instruments. We looked at their names and how to play them. Here are some of the instruments we looked at this afternoon:

  1. Surdo Drum

  2. Repinique Drum

  3. Caixa Drum

  4. Tamborim

  5. Agogo Bells

After learning about these instruments, the children were desperate to start playing them! They were tasked with keeping to a rhythm and playing in time with other children in the group. Our aim is end with a Samba performance which we will film and put on the blog for your entertainment.

Considering it was only our first sessions, I was very impressed with how quickly the children learnt the names of the instruments and how to correctly play them.
