We have had another brilliant week in year 3! We have continued reading the Thames and Tide Club by Katya Balen and for English each child immersed themselves into the character of Clem, Ash or Zara the mudlarks. They wrote a diary entry as if they had been on the banks of the Thames River. As they were there something strange began to occur to the water and the weather. The children produce some amazing descriptive sentences which made me feel I was almost there!
In Science the children began an investigation on plants. We have some cress seeds that have no access to light, but do have soil, water and air. We have other seeds that have soil, air and light but no water. One seed that is trapped in a mason jar with no air but has soil and access to water via string in a glass of water! We also have some seeds that are tightly squashed together – we shall see if they grow or if they really should have had more space!
