We are learning about edible plants in science at the moment. Yesterday, the children all got to explore some herbs (we especially liked the curry plant!) and today was all about fruit. We already knew that fruit have seeds and vegetables don’t, but today we donned our scientist caps and took on the task of carefully extracting the seeds from various fruit. We discovered that banana seeds are very small indeed and that tomato seeds are very slippery! We realised that beans are fruit, even though we normally think of them as a vegetables. Everyone did a good job of working methodically and sensibly. We used magnifying glasses to examine the seeds up close and found that they are all different sizes and shapes. Great science Year 2.
