Southill vs St Nicks

Southill vs St Nicks

Wow. What a display by the boys today. After a slow and nervy start against Bincombe in our last game, Southill put the pedal to the metal as they found their rhythm early in the game. Some lovely two-touch football saw us take an early lead as a ball into the box from the right-hand side was dispatched confidently in the bottom corner to make it 1-0. Southill really did grow in confidence as the half went on and by half time, the team found themselves 10-0 up!

Take try and make it a friendly and enjoyable game for all, the children played in different positions in the second half, and they adapted to the new challenge extremely well. A corner early into the second half led to another goal and Southill just couldn’t stop hitting the back of the net after that.

The final score ended in…

Southill 190 St Nicks

Since I’ve been at the school, Southill have found themselves on the receiving end of some heavy defeats in the past and so I know how it can feel. St Nicks however should be extremely proud of themselves. They all finished the game in high spirits and remained resilient throughout the game. They even carved out a few opportunities in the second half to keep our keeper on his toes.

A huge thank you to St Nicks for taking the time and effort to come over and participate in the game. We hope, despite the score, you enjoyed the experience of getting out onto the football pitch and playing some football. I would also like to thank Mr. Puddick who kindly agreed to referee the game today.

I would also like to say a huge thank you to Southill FC. You showed incredible sportsmanship and respect both during and after the game and I am very proud of you.

St Nicks have very kindly agreed to play a Girls’ football match next. Get yourselves ready girls as you have a few matches coming up in the spring term…
