Celebration Assembly

Friday comes around so quickly and we really had that Friday feeling at SPS today. This week’s assembly kicked off with a cracking musical performance by two Year 5 pupils. The girls had written their own tune to perform on the pitch pipes – they played completely in time with each other and it was pitch perfect!

After celebrating birthdays for this weekend we listened to all the exciting news about awards from outside of school – loads this week!… a sponsored silence had earned one pupil her Brownies badge for charity work. Then there were swimmers, football players, karate champs and ‘Dirty Devils’ who had completed a very muddy 5k run. Well done everyone – we’re super proud of you.

Teachers presented the Sir Owlington award to children who had been reflective in their learning. We heard examples of children working hard in DT and with fractions in Maths, slowing down their writing to ensure they don’t miss any spelling or punctuation and making sure that their work is absolutely top quality.

We also presented ‘Feel Great 8’ certificates to children who have had a really positive attitude to school this week – they believed in themselves and this really helped them to do well this week.

I must apologise to children who won awards in last week’s assembly – I completely forgot to do the website post. Pictures from last week are included below. Well done to those children and I’m sorry I forgot to put your assembly on the website last week.
