The Nash Cup 2025 – Southill Shines!

We were greeted with glorious sunshine and blue skies at Redlands as both our boys’ and girls’ football teams proudly represented Southill in The Nash Cup — a prestigious tournament dating back to the 1970s. The last time Southill brought home silverware from this event was in 2001… until today!

Girls’ Competition

Results:

Southill 03 St Nicholas and St Lawrence

Southill 11 St Andrews
Scorer: Nancy (penalty)

Southill 20 St Johns
Scorer: Nancy x2

Despite a tough group, the girls gave everything they had. After a challenging start, they earned a hard-fought draw thanks to a last-minute penalty from Nancy, and finished on a high with a confident win featuring two excellent team goals, both finished by Nancy. Unfortunately, they narrowly missed out on a semi-final place on goal difference.

The eventual champions, St Nicholas and St Lawrence, were in their group — a testament to the level of competition they faced. In scorching conditions, the team showed immense resilience and teamwork. Well done, girls – you made Southill proud!

In a tense and dramatic final that ended 0-0, it all came down to penalties. Thanks to two outstanding saves from our goalkeeper and confidently taken spot-kicks by Noah and Eli, Southill were crowned champions of The Nash Cup 2025!

A massive thank you to Rob Curry for generously giving his time to manage and coach the boys’ team. Huge appreciation also goes to everyone who came to support — your energy made a real difference. And thank you to Mr. Frampton for capturing the magic through his lens — what incredible memories!

Finally, a heartfelt congratulations to both teams. You represented Southill brilliantly — with heart, determination, and true sportsmanship.

We brought the Cup home. What a day!
