The Southill Sound Collectors

The Southill Sound Collectors

This morning, Year 4 began to look at a piece of poetry called ‘The Sound Collector’ by Roger McGough. We analysed the poem and looked at how it cleverly flowed from one stanza to the next. It used verbs to describe all the sounds that were stolen by a stranger…

To help us write our very own poems, we went on an adventure, collecting as many sounds as possible on the way. We went into the woodland walk, up onto the field, into the hall and even lurked outside Mr. Mason’s office for a while. From the humming of the printer to the whispering of the wind, the munching of the biscuit (coming from Mr. Mason’s office of course) to the chattering of the children, we certainly heard a wide variety of sounds!

I am sure this will help us when creating our very own poems next week!
