Southill Primary DID IT AGAIN – we’ve been awarded the GOLD School Games Mark for 2024/25!
We are THRILLED! The School Games Mark is a Government-led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward efforts in developing competition across schools and into the community. Recognition is awarded at bronze, silver and gold levels across the scheme – and again we’ve achieved GOLD status which is an outstanding achievement, we’re all very proud.
Our local School Games Organiser stated that Southill provided … ‘dedication and commitment to keeping pupils active and prioritising sport and physical activity.’
Being an active school brings many valuable benefits, including the opportunities to enjoy fun, rewarding experiences as a community. We take pride in offering a wide and enriching range of activities, such as clubs, competitions, sports festivals, Fitness Thursdays, Healthy Selfies, The Daily Mile, Sports Week, Stormbreak movement sessions, and unique outdoor adventures during residentials and school trips. We also nurture a team of enthusiastic Bronze Ambassadors who play a key role as pupils in planning, organising, and leading many of our sporting activities.
We’d like to thank all our wonderful pupils for their energy, team spirit and have-a-go attitude when it comes to all aspects of sport, to staff for their focus and dedication, our school community for regularly joining us and to Tom Prior, our Curriculum Lead for PE, for his commitment in delivering such a fun, engaging and varied timetable of activities with plenty of excellent opportunities for all. We’re fortunate to have the expertise of such a dedicated and inspiring lead and a strong school community – working hard to continuously evolve our ‘school games’ with clear investment in our pupils.
What a fantastic way to round off another successful sporting year and another trophy for our cabinet too! Here’s a selection of just some of our highlights …
