XC Competition

This afternoon, A group of girls and boys from Years 4 and 6 made their way to Budmouth in order to participate in a Cross Country competition against other schools in the local area. This is a relatively new event to primary schools so we were very excited to participate…

This afternoon, every child in Year 4 had to run 1,000m and Year 6 children were required to run 1,500m! This was by far the hardest school event I’ve witnessed. The mental strength and resilience needed in order to run this distance is staggering and every single child finished the race which is an incredible achievement in itself.

A huge congratulations to all four teams who participated. You really were a credit to school. In particular, well done to Year 6 girls who came 3rd overall. One of the girls at Southill even came third (out of around 60 children) and won the bronze medal! The Year 6 boys were very close to winning a team trophy, however they were narrowly beaten by Chickerell.

I could not have been prouder of the children I took today. It was an incredibly difficult event and the pitch was extremely muddy.

Thank you to any parent who helped transport the children to Budmouth at lunchtime and thank you Mr. Blatchley for helping me supervise the children today. We really value your support.
