On Thursday 1st May 2025, eight of our wonderful Year 4 pupils had the exciting opportunity to attend the Radipole Park Multi-Sports Festival, part of the West Dorset School Games. Set in the beautiful surroundings of Radipole Park & Gardens in Weymouth, this inclusive festival offered children the chance to try out new sports in a supportive, fun-filled atmosphere.
The event aimed to build confidence, support skill development, and introduce alternative sporting activity that could be taken back into school and shared with their peers.
Throughout the day, our children took part in a range of unique and engaging activities including:
Pétanque – a game of skill and precision, where they aimed to land metal boules closest to the target.
Pickleball – a fast-growing racket sport that had everyone smiling and moving.
Quidditch – a magical, team-based game inspired by Harry Potter, complete with hoops and a golden Snitch!
Our pupils threw themselves into every activity with fantastic enthusiasm and teamwork. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow throughout the day, with lots of laughter, encouragement, and team work with children from other schools.
We are incredibly proud of our Year 4 children for representing our school with such positivity and energy. Huge thanks to the organisers — including the West Dorset School Games team, Weymouth College & Budmouth Young Coaches, and local sports clubs — for hosting such an inspiring event.
We are planning time for the children who attended to share these games with their classmates at school so watch this space!
