Friday 24 October 2025 Super stars at Stonehenge! On Wednesday morning, we all set off very early before the rest of the school arrived, so we could get to Stonehenge to explore its historical magnificence! The children were very excited as we climbed aboard the coach and settled in for the long journey. When we got there, we got straight onto the shuttle bus as marvelled at the 5,000 year old stones and burial mounds. The children listened patiently as I read out the information boards and they started to put the pieces we had learned in class together as we looked at the stone circle and surrounding area.

Friday 17 October 2025 Year 3 - Super, not so scary skeletons! This week the children have enjoyed continuing our science topic Animals including humans. The children have learned how the muscles in the body work relaxing and contracting. They made muscles using strips of card board, elastic bands and some split pins. This week they also looked at joints and made split pin skeletons so the legs, arms and head could move. As the children worked they were heard saying to their friends "You need to attach the femur to the pelvis!" So lots of great scientific language was being used.

Friday 26 September 2025 Verb charades For our new book The Wilderness by Steve McCarthy, the children acted out some of the activities and actions that the children in the story were doing. Their partners then had to guess what action they were acting out. Lots of fun and giggles which then helped to produce some great written work using verbs and adverbs.

Friday 12 September 2025 A wonderful first full week! This week the children have done a brilliant job of settling in to their new routines. Many of the have been given responsibilities around the class such as book monitor or computer monitor and have taken their new role very seriously. We have begun the week with the wonderful text 'The First Drawing' a fictional book about a boy living in the Stone Age. It links with our history topic - Stone Age to Iron Age and the children seem to love extending their knowledge from what they learnt from year 2.

Friday 5 September 2025 A great start to year 3! I have really enjoyed the start of the term and the 2 days I have had with the new year 3's! They have created a decorative label for their sketch books as well as begun a beautiful monochromatic self-portrait which will go on display in the classroom. The children also created a class charter where they decided what they wanted and didn't want in their school day, which included, kind hands and feet, being honest, looking after one another. They drew around their hands as if to shake hands in agreement and this will be displayed in the classroom as a reminded that we are all important and special and need to be treated with respect and kindness.
