Thursday Tasks

Phonics: Letters and Sounds Lesson 43.

Picture of the Day: The Glass House. Wow! Look at this colourful house – so many beautiful colours to see. I wonder what it would be like inside the house? I wonder who built the house? What is the house made from? Which is your favourite colour? Maybe you could tell me which colour you like. Here is my sentence.

I like blue. The sky is blue and the sea is blue.

Sound out each word as you write your sentence and look out for any tricky words. Remember, children will sound out the colour words rather than write them as we would (blue might be bloo).

Maths: An activity card for you today – Can You Build This? You will need some construction toys for this – lego, duplo, blocks….

Other Activities

Art: Today we will look at some paintings by Paul Klee. Here are two of his paintings.

This first painting is titled Red Bridge.

This one is Castle and Sun

Look at the pictures and talk about how he has used different shapes and colours in his paintings. He once said A line is a dot that went for a walk.

For your art challenge today, see if you can create a picture of different buildings in this style. You might try a bridge or a castle or something different.

School Challenge: Use black pens to draw different shaped buildings on your paper (our Sharpie pens work well). Then use watercolour paints to colour in the shapes and buildings.  This is just like when we have used watercolours for other art projects in our class.

Home Challenge: If you have some watercolour paints at home, try the school challenge. If not, you can use pencils and crayons or other paints.

This is my picture I have started.

Getting Outside: Take some small world characters outside and build homes for them – you could take out your lego/construction toys to use and build them on the grass or on the patio/playground. You could add some natural objects too if you want to. Maybe it will be colourful, or tall, or up high or hidden behind a rock or tree.

Have fun building.

Why not sing about all of these wonderful colours.
