Home Learning

2nd June

Tasks for Tuesday – at home or at school.

Phonics: Watch this video and join in with the lesson. This will review and build on knowledge you already have. There is also a focus on some tricky words – these can be found on your sound board too. At home you might like to write out some of these newer tricky words on pieces of paper or card and put them up on a wall, door or the fridge.

Story for the week: The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson. Enjoy listening to this story together.

The Snail and the Whale story reading

Picture of the day – writing challenge: Look at this picture together and talk about what you can see. What can you see? What do you think is happening? Where do you think the snail will go next? Can you sound out the word ‘snail’ – don’t forget the digraph. Can you write a sentence about the picture? Here are some ideas for sentence starters:  The snail…… I can see……  I think…… I like……. Remember to sound out each word as you write and use your sound board to help you.

Maths: White Rose Maths Day 2 of The Snail and the Whale. You will be making spiral patterns today and also have fun talking about some of the pictures. Click on the link and choose Day 2 – watch the video then try the activities.

Painting Challenge: Paint a seaside picture. You could paint a scene from ‘The Snail and the Whale’ or one of your own ideas. Think carefully about the colours you will use. Will you include any sea creatures in your picture?

Getting Outside: Chalk challenge. Take some chalk outside today – you could draw spirals of different colours and sizes. Have a look at this for more ideas.
