6th May

Wonderful Wednesday!

Picture of the day: Another magical theme today – have a chat about this picture then write about it.

  • What are the creatures doing?
  • How are they similar? How are they different?
  • Are they butterflies or fireflies, or something else?
  • What might they be saying to one another?
You could write a sentence to describe the picture: They are……. (use your tricky words to help with this) I think…….  Or you could write a speech bubble for them – what are they saying to eachother? The children should remember about speech bubbles.

Phonics: Letters and Sounds Lesson

Phase 4 challenge: Letter blends at the beginning of words.

Here are some more words to write in your phoneme frame – this time with a letter blend of tr at the beginning of each word.

trip    trap    tree    train    track

Here is an example to help you on your way.

Reading:

Why not try this game to help learn your tricky words? You can find them in your sounds book or on the back of the sound board (focus on orange and purple words).

  •  Follow the Word Path:
Make a trail of cards with words that you are learning and turn them into a game. Move along the path, reading each word as you go. Remember, you can’t sound these words out.

Make sure you keep reading your books and contact Mrs Wood if you are able to change them safely.

Maths: White Rose.

More fun with The Very Hungry Caterpillar. It’s a fruity day today!

Other Activities

Drawing challenge: Draw your plate. You could just draw this on a round piece of paper or a paper plate.

Getting Outside: Why not try to spot some of these minibeasts outside?

Get Crafty: You could have a go at making your own fluttering fingerbugs. This is just for ideas – feel free to adapt in any way you like. If you don’t have lots of different types of paper or card, use cereal/food packaging or any junk mail that comes through the door.

Listen and Play: Finally, try out this Minibeast listen and play session from BBC Radio.
