8th June

Marvellous Monday

Welcome to another week of learning. We will continue with our theme of ‘Out and About’ and think about looking up when we go outside. Have a great day.

Phonics: The last of our ‘review’ lessons today (lesson 30) – using what we already know.

Story of the week: Here is a story to encourage us to look up when we are out and about. It is called Little Cloud and it is written by Eric Carle.

Picture of the Day: Have a look at this picture – what are the people in this picture doing? What are they looking at? What can you see in the cloud shapes? What do they look like? Have you ever done this before?

Write about what you can see in the picture – try using the word and in your sentence to tell me two ideas. Sentence starter ideas: I can see……. They are……… I Like……

Use your sound boards to help you as you might need some digraphs or some tricky words today.

Maths: Something a bit different today – some fun with Numerblocks. Firstly, a link to a guide for parents/carers – this gives ideas on how to get the best out of the Numberblocks videos and ideas for how to develop them.

Then enjoy watching this episode together.

Extra Challenge (home activity): Have a go at creating some doubles in front of a mirror at home. Look at this picture – 2 dinosaurs in front of the mirror plus 2 reflected in the mirror. Double 2 is 4. Don’t worry about writing it down, just talk about it together.

Other Activities

Cut and Stick ideas: For this activity you will need some white paper for cutting up, some blue paper for the background, scissors and some glue. Have fun cutting up the white paper into very small pieces, then arranging them on the blue paper to create interesting cloud shapes, maybe based on some from the Eric Carle story or clouds you can see outside today. Here are a few ideas to help.

You could write a label for your picture too: This is a …………………………..

Getting Outside: Cloud Spotting

Go outside to try some cloud spotting today – here are some top tips to get you started.

Why not take some chalk with you – you could draw some cloud shapes you see.

Have a great day looking up at the clouds.
