My Day in the Forest!

This week, we started learning our new model text, ‘My Day in the Forest’ – a recount, which is written in the style of a diary entry, by Little Red Riding Hood. As you can see from the photos, Year 3 had a visit from Little Red Riding Hood (a.k.a Miss Hutton!) to deliver her recount, of her day in the forest, to the class for the first time!

For the rest of the week, we have continued learning our text map and actions to go with it and I have been super impressed with how quickly they have learnt the text so far. So, watch this space for the full video…COMING SOON!

Please enjoy a selection of photos below of some of the children’s fantastic writing using adverbs to express time such as ‘After that’, ‘A few moments later’ and ‘Meanwhile’. This is a key writing tool used to order events which the children will need when it comes to writing their very own recounts at the end of our writing unit.

Great work, Year 3 – have a fab weekend!
