Book Week in Reception

Have a look at how we have celebrated Book Week in Reception.

Our focus this week was stories and books about African animals. We have shared books such as The Ugly Five, We’re Going on a Lion Hunt and Spot and Stripe.

We have made our own Lift the Flap animal books – look out for them coming home on Friday!

As artists we have looked at lions in our books and created amazing representations of them through our art work. For one activity we used oil pastels to draw a lion with its mane. In another, we found out how to curl paper for the mane.

As mathematicians, we looked at animal patterns then used different resources to create tricky repeating patterns. Can you work out the patterns here?

In other news…

Some birds have started visiting our feeding station and we now have a bird watching area.

Last Friday, we planted some lettuce seeds. Here we are learning about how we plant seeds.

Ask your child what is happening to the seeds!

Another fabulous week and we still have a book swap tomorrow!
