Cold Explorers!

Having been fascinated by the frost and ice, we have started to find out more about places that are cold. We shared the story ‘Lost and Found’ and used this to start discussions about where penguins live.

We used chalk and craft materials to make penguin pictures and we made enough for a whole colony!

Our book nook had some interesting additions to look at – books about birds, snow, Jack Frost and animals from cold places.

Here we are exploring with penguins. We were excited to find out about different penguins, such as Emperor and Chinstrap. We looked in information books, searched on the internet and found out information from Andy’s Adventures. Most penguins live in the Antarctic, at the bottom of our globe.

We also found out about life in the Arctic, at the top of our globe. Here we are with arctic foxes, polar bears, arctic hares and igloos. A  polar  bear  would never meet a penguin!

Look at our colourful chalk creations.  We enjoyed working together with our friends.

We have some amazing news – we now know all 44 of these graphemes on our chart! Here we are celebrating. We are becoming so confident to spot these when we are reading and to use them when we are writing.

This is a great number game we have been playing this week – count how many, then put a jewel on the matching number – Great team work.

To end the week, we met our buddies to share our penguin art. They showed us their animal art too! We also swapped facts we have been learning about cold places.

What a fantastic week – more cold learning next week!
