Cut, Stitch and Join!

This week in year 2 we began our new companion project – cut, stitch and join. First, we looked at different home products such as a peg bag, a tea towel, and a pencil case. We compared the fabrics and fastenings, and noticed where the stitching was on the products. The children were great at identifying the uses of each product!

Next week, we will be making bag tags! We looked at pictures of different types and discussed the materials used. We made a paper prototype to help us practise our cutting skills.

We then practised our sewing skills ready for next week. The children were very resilient, as it was a bit tricky. We are so proud of them. Well done year 2!
