Leeson House Residential – Day 1

Today we have been historians and geographers on our very first residential trip. It was a gloriously sunny day as we set off on our Leeson House adventure. Everyone was very excited this morning and we have had a wonderful day. We walked from Leeson House to Dancing Ledge and although it was quite chilly the sun was shining and we all enjoyed the walk. It was such a beautiful spot for a picnic. Grace, our guide, told us stories on the way about the history of Leeson House and Langton village and the important part it played in helping us to win World War 2.

When we returned from the walk we got settled into our bedrooms. Everyone was looking forward to finding out who they would be sharing with. We practised the fire drill and had some time in our rooms and then it was time for tea. Leeson House dinners are delicious and tonight we had pizza, chips and salad followed by chocolate pudding. Yummy.

Our evening entertainment was night orienteering. It was a frosty, moonlit night and we set off around the grounds of Leeson House with torches and clipboards to find the markers. So exciting!

Then it was time for pyjamas, hot chocolate and a story before heading up to our bedrooms and off to sleep.

It has been a joy to be with Year 3 today. They have impressed us with their positive attitude, kindness towards each other and all round Southill spirit. They’ve had really great fun but been really sensible too.

We’re all looking forward to another cracking day tomorrow.
